Abraham Weinstein had dedicated his life to science mapping out the human genome. He had won a Nobel Laureate and had embarked upon Project G66AXX as he had called it. In his quiet laboratory, he injected himself with his latest genetically engineered virus designed to switch off the G66AXX gene.
"Tomorrow I will see what happens when the G66AXX gene is turned off. For some reason unknown to me, there is great resistance to understanding this gene. In the interests of science, I must perform this experiment."
In the morning he woke up and his world had changed. He walked out into his street and saw aliens walking up and down the street.
Quickly, he drove to the hospital where his wife was working. There was sweat pouring from his face as he spoke to her.
They scanned his wife as she looked at Abraham.
"What's wrong?" asked Nora.
"Don't you see them?" he asked.
"See who?"
"They're everywhere. The gene must be suppressing their presence."
One of the aliens scanned his form and it began to beep. It's mouth opened wide and it let out a hiss.
Nora blinked and Abraham disappeared.
For a brief second, her body seemed to freeze and then she blinked again.
Her pager went off and she attended her patient.
One of these days she would meet mister right, she was sure of it.
